The F. Hebert Edwards Health Professions Scholarship Program

Medical Scholarship Amounts:

Under the Air Force's Health Services Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) pays 100% of a student's graduate school tuition to become a doctor at any accredited U.S. college. In addition, the program offers a $20,000 signing bonus plus a $1,900 monthly spending stipend.

Students receiving the scholarship must generally commit to one year of military service for each school year paid for under the program (three year minimum).

Medical Programs Eligible for the Air Force's Medical Scholarship:

To be eligible for the Air Force's medical scholarship program, a student must attend an accredited university and study to become one of the following:

  • Medical doctor (any specialty)
  • Dentist
  • Optometrist
  • Psychologist
  • Psychiatric nurse practitioner
  • Physician's Assistant (Master's level)

Eligibility Requirements for an Air Force Medical Scholarships:

To be eligible for an Air Force medical scholarship, a student must:
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited school
  • Be enrolled in an accredited graduate program
  • Be a full-time student
